The
Palestinian and Jordanian costumes portray a rich heritage. The richness
of this heritage finds expression in the traditional costumes that were
made for both festive and daily wear. Though marked by variations in style in different areas, the traditional dresses share certain characteristics: use of vibrant colors that mirror the beauty of the natural surroundings and attention to detail that stems from a well-developed aesthetic sense of design, which is a tribute to the artistry of women. The collection includes dresses from other Arab countries including Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, and Yeman for comparison and study. |
